More About This Car
The BMW Z3 M Coupé was one of the most talked-about performance cars of the late 1990s. When it was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1997 and entered production the following year, its distinctive shooting-brake styling divided opinion. It was one of those cars that people either loved or hated.
I was working for BMW at the time and can still remember seeing one for the first time. Personally, I thought it was magnificent.
Underneath the dramatic styling was a serious driver's car. Power came from BMW M's legendary 3.2-litre straight-six engine, producing 321bhp and shared with the E36 M3 Evolution. Combined with a five-speed manual gearbox, limited-slip differential and rear-wheel drive, the result was a car capable of 0-60mph in just 5.2 seconds and a top speed limited to 155mph.
What really set the M Coupé apart, however, was its fixed roof. The additional structural rigidity transformed the driving experience, giving the car greater precision and composure than its Roadster sibling while retaining all of the character, balance and excitement that made BMW's M cars so special.
It was, and still is, a car that rewards an enthusiastic and capable driver. Fast, engaging and wonderfully analogue, the Z3 M Coupé delivers the sort of driving experience that has become increasingly rare in the modern era.
Today, finding an exceptional example is becoming ever more difficult. Many have covered substantial mileage, been modified, or simply failed to survive the passing years.
This particular car represents a rare opportunity to acquire a remarkably well-preserved example. Having spent much of its life within a private collection, it has covered just 25,919 miles from new.
Finished in Titanium Silver with a two-tone Black and Grey Nappa Leather interior, the specification perfectly complements the character of the car. The cabin remains beautifully presented and retains the quality, feel and atmosphere that made these cars so special when new.
For collectors and enthusiasts alike, the Z3 M Coupé has firmly established itself as one of BMW M's modern classics, and examples of this calibre are becoming increasingly sought after.
